A Quick Question

Hiya guys!

How are you?

I just had one question for the writing community on copyright for blog posts – in particular chapters from a work in progress.

Basically, I want to share my novel on my blog so it will motivate me to write and finish the novel and get the audience motivation as well. But I have a worry about copyright issues, and I was thinking of uploading chapter at a time. More like one chapter every week kind of thing (so that I could write, edit and then upload).

So the question is, is there a way for me to copyright my chapters when I have completed a chapter every time and that is based in the UK or at least covers the UK without a huge cost involved to copyright? I have heard of creative commons (is that correct?) but not quite sure what that does.

Any ideas? Or suggestions?

Thank you for your help in advance and I’ll be grateful for any suggestions given.

Creative Writing Songs: – Salvation by Gabrielle Aplin

Wow, my first proper post for this blog and I think this is a great way to begin!

Usually I do this thing called Song of the Day, but since this blog is dedicated to the writing side of me, I decided to call it something different. Songs that inspire me to write or spark my creativity and provides me with ideas!

Hence, for this blog it is called Creative Writing Songs. If anyone else has a better name for this, please do suggest in the comments section, I’d be happy to know your opinions! 🙂

Here is the creative writing song for today and I also believe it is the perfect song for Christmas as well.

Artist: Gabrielle Aplin

Song: Salvation

I really love this song, her voice, the lyrics, and the piano just gives me the goosebumps in a good way! It makes me feel something and it connected with me on a personal level too. This tune reminded me of my first love in 2011 and it expressed exactly how he made me feel.

Anyway, enough about the personal connection, but how did it inspire my creativity?

There has been a story, I’ve been working on for a long time, I have never been able to finish it and I have done so many versions. This song has told me which version to stick too and it fits well with the two main characters in the story. Originally, the song for the formal dance scene near to the end when the two characters realise that their friendship is changing was supposed to be Skillet ‘A Little More’. When I heard Salvation at work today, I realised this suited it better. Considering the main guy character always saves the heroine of the story and stuck by her side at all times.

This song has helped me to realise that the original idea was way better for a novel and that is the version I should stick with. It brought the images to mind and it is stirring me to rewrite it again. I think this song helped a little in getting rid of my mental block that I recently have been suffering with.

So what did you think? Has it inspired you? Or which songs inspire you to write?

Before I forget – Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year!

Welcome!

Hello Everyone!

How are you?

I will be honest, I already have another blog. The other blog was a combination of short stories and a little journal to write my thoughts. My previous blog was known as Diary of a Lost Girl.

The reason for the new blog is because I want to separate the two blogs. I want to keep my stories away from the journal side.

Basically, on this blog I shall upload my stories, and still keep Diary of a Lost Girl as a diary or a place for my thoughts.

I know this might annoy some of my previous followers, but I kind of need to do this. I have been away from blogging for so long that I need a space just to write my stories or the word challenges. I’ve been finding it hard to write these days and hopefully this blog might help me to get back into the habit again.

This blog will contain my stories, song of the days, 5 word writing challenge and anything else creative writing.

Well I shall start working on something and I hope that I can get rid of my mental block soon. I’ve heard that daily writing will help!

Thank you for taking time to read this message.
